Self-storage - a way of life

Category General

Self-storage has become a way of life for many people who have relocated, downsized or are rebuilding their homes and for those who need affordable space to store anything from documents to stock in trade, equipment, extra household goods and vehicles.

Urbanisation and smaller living spaces have been the key drivers for growth in the self-storage market and this maturing asset class is now gaining traction in the property industry. Recent statistics reveal that in the United States there are over 58 000 self-storage facilities covering an area of 2.35billion ft2  with one in ten households renting some form of self-storage.  Statistics for the European market indicate there are approximately 2 600 facilities covering 75million m2 that generated an income in 2015 of around €400million.

With the self-storage industry growing in South Africa, Ballito and the surrounding areas have kept pace with the market. ComProp manages four separate safe and secure Store-It Parks located in the Ballito Business Park, Shakas Head Industrial, Umhlali and Tinley Manor, totalling 710 units covering in excess of 8 500 m2.  These facilities include 6m containers and roller shutter door units ranging in size from 42 up to 36 m2. The Tinley Manor Store-It Park has garages large enough to store ski boats and also offer complimentary wash bay facilities to tenants.

Month-to-Month Rentals from R350.00 for 4m2 up to R1960.00 for 36m2
